It is the fifth time I have a pleasure and honour to invite the most gifted Polish computer specialists to face Algorithmic Engagements. Regardless whether you are a pupil, a student, an employee of a big or a small firm, yet you like intellectual challenges, competition and you program “a bit”, you can and you should take part in this tournament. The majority of those who have already participated in it admit that although the competition is intensive, it remains in memory as a fantastic intellectual adventure.
This year the rivalry extends over Poland’s boarder. Programmers from Ukraine shall compete on the same conditions as Poles. We wish them luck. Since it is a jubilee edition of Algorithmic Engagements, we want its final to be the final of finals. Thus, the first ten persons from the virtual round shall be invited to Zielona Góra regardless of their Algorithmic Engagements performance history. In the end, on behalf of mine, organizers from the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of Warsaw University, and friends from ADB, I wish all participants satisfaction from solving tasks and all the success in Algorithmic Engagements 2009. Krzysztof Diks Invitation
I encourage to test your own abilities and to take the challenge of solving the tasks of the fifth edition of Algorithmic Engagements, organized jointly by Advanced Digital Broadcast and the Department of Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics of Warsaw University.
The programming competition already belongs to the most important programming events in Poland and is an unusual occasion to compete with thousands of participants. Moreover, the competition gives the possibility to meet with the great authority in the area of algorithms and programming – prof. Krzysztof Diks, and world programming masters, who as jurors prepare tasks and oversee the flow of the competition. As every year, we prepare attractive rewards for the winners. Undoubtedly, the biggest advantage of the tournament is the possibility of training one’s programming skills and a chance to compete with top specialists in this field, not only from Poland. For outstanding programmers who achieve highest positions in the algorithmic contest ranking, the gates to the R&D centre of international ADB Group – one of the biggest designers of digital television receivers in the world - are thrown open. I therefore encourage to the participation in virtual rounds from 17th till 28th April this year. For their winners we are preparing attractions and rewards at the finals held in our R&D Centre in Zielona Góra on May 15-16, 2009. Janusz Szajna, PhD
